"I don't want to be a person who gives up the moment life gets tough."

Brief synopsis:

Charlotte Clark is a woman with some questions: Who is her mother? And, why was she once an abandoned baby on a porch in Frankin, Tennessee? So, she plans to find the answers. However, she discovers even more questions when she buys a beautiful (but dilapidated) old Franklin home where a diary, written by a woman who disappeared about three decades ago, is found hidden within the walls. Charlotte thinks her own birth may be linked to this unsolved disappearance/murder, and furthermore, there seems to be people who do not want this old story explored or probed. She finds herself “in deep” with problems including overwhelming home repairs and the cold-case mystery that places her in physical danger. Charlotte wants answers, but she also wants a home and a family. Maybe the interesting people she meets will help her to not only find answers but will also help her to fulfill her deepest desires.

This is the statue in the middle of the Square in Franklin

My thoughts:

So…the setting is great because the story takes place in the small/quaint town of Franklin, Tennessee. I absolutely love this charming city because, until a year ago, I was a teacher at Franklin Elementary School. Therefore, I really enjoyed reading this story. If you do not already know it, Franklin is one of the most beautiful cities in our country, and it is a perfect setting for this story.

On of the streets that run off the square. You can see the statue in the background.

The plot is a romance story with a little mystery and is a bit predictable. Therefore, you would really enjoy taking this book to the beach to read while relaxing. Truly, the Hallmark Channel should find this book and make it into a movie. It would be awesome!

Also, Charlotte finds purpose in life by finding and following Christian beliefs and values. These values help her to make wise choices for her future, while enabling her to accept the truth about her past.

The citizens fought to save the old Franklin Theatre. It has been restored and is a wonderful part of this special city.

In conclusion, this is a feel-good book. If you like romance stories check it out. But first check out the real Franklin, Tennessee: a city that will close its square to celebrate holidays and special events.
