"This was new and big. It was fun to be heard. I discovered I had a voice and now I really wanted to use it."

Women of all ages should read this book and discover this journey!

I usually review fiction books, but this book is a very enjoyable nonfiction book. The book is inspirational, fun, and will encourage anyone who reads it. There are two authors: Sophie and Andy who narrate their stories/thoughts in alternating chapters as they work and grow into strong young woman while learning to code. (Coding is using computer languages to make computers and computer software work). Sophie starts out as very shy and almost has panic attaches when she must speak in front of an audience. Andy, the daughter of immigrants, is a young woman who feels pressure (real and imagined) to push herself into becoming a doctor, lawyer, etc. I loved reading about their personal growth into confidence, thoughtful decision making, and strength. Sprinkled throughout the book are actual photos of Sophie and Andy that make the book even more interesting. These two high school students are very self-motivated and pursue opportunities to learn and work on themselves. Their work pays off in their personal and ultimately professional growth. They are socially conscience and wish to further the cause for women in computer science and in all aspects of life. Because of their efforts, they get lots of attention when they build and promote a computer game to raise awareness of what they feel is a silly taboo in our society. Read this book to discover and be motivated by these two remarkable women. You will feel galvanized to learn something new or make a difference in your own life.

As a bonus, there is some information and instructions for a novice (like me) to code a program. FUN!

Also, I looked up their game and you can get it for yourself in itunes.
